The August Eclipse
Preparing the eclipse moment…
On August 12, 2026, a total solar eclipse will trace a limited path across Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic, northern Spain, a small corner of Portugal, and northern Russia. Totality is only visible from that path; elsewhere, viewing circumstances and timing vary by location. In the United States, parts of the north may see a partial eclipse rather than totality.
The last total solar eclipse to cross the continental United States was April 8, 2024, traveling from Mexico through the U.S. to Canada; the next total eclipse visible from the contiguous U.S. is not until 2044. Astrologically, this is a New Moon solar eclipse in Leo—an invitation to meet creative courage, heart-led expression, and the stories we are ready to stop shrinking inside. Hold it as a reflective threshold, not a prediction or pressure to make a dramatic change.
For your eyes: NASA’s eclipse safety guidance says to use certified eclipse glasses or a handheld solar viewer for any direct view of the Sun. Regular sunglasses are not safe.

Who Gets to Make a Sacred Day? The Curious History of Lion’s Gate.
Every August 8, social feeds fill with talk of Lion’s Gate: a day of courage, clarity, and intentional beginnings. The date arrives dressed in bright language—portals, abundance, activation—and it can be tempting to either lean all the way in or dismiss the whole thing as another passing mood of the internet.
But the more interesting question may be neither whether Lion’s Gate is objectively real nor whether it is entirely invented. It is how a date becomes meaningful at all. How do a symbol, a season, a few celestial associations, and a collective appetite for ritual gather enough attention to become a day people mark together?
Lion’s Gate draws loosely from the Sun’s passage through Leo, the traditional visibility of Sirius before dawn in parts of the ancient world, and the visual echo of 8/8. Modern spiritual culture has braided those threads into a contemporary observance—less an inherited holy day than a living one, shaped in public as it goes.
